Why look to open trade with other countries as the solution to boost U.S. job growth?

In an effort to boost our economy, and ladle out of the poop pot what is left of this country, the President is pushing to open our trade with our foreign friends who own most of our economy (China owns 20% of the US Treasury). Obama has been wooing President Hu of China in an effort to have the country invest in the United States even further, and also request that China stop making us look like incompetent morons by launching Chinese missiles off of our coasts. During the summit, China announced $45 billion in contracts and said it would increase its investments in the U.S. by several billion dollars — deals that Obama said will support 235,000 American jobs. That's awesome: sell out our country (even more) for a measly 235,000 jobs- most of which will be overseas?  I am still waiting for President Obama to stop following in Bush's footsteps and pass some reform that will really give our economy a boost. Financial mismanagement from 2001 to 2007 helped to create t...

Unknown object flying near L.A.

A mysterious vapor trail was caught on tape Monday night by a CBS helicopter crew. This contrail was about 35 miles off the coast of Los Angeles and it has already dropped off the radar- no pun intended. Tuesday morning the FAA said there were no planes in the area. Military officials were stumped. Correction: they told us they did not know what it was, but that it looked like it came from the water. Take a look at this shot- Really? The Pentagon doesn't know what this is? How about they know what it is but they don't know who shot it? I rode submarines for 20 years and I have seen many shots of submarine launched missiles- even from my own boat. This contrail looks very familiar to me. In fact, "military officials" told Fox News that they are confident the missile shot was not from a foreign military . How conveeeeeeeenient.... I am not a conspiracy theorist by any stretch but sometimes it is fun to dabble in the "What ifs". Hell, I have a zombie inva...

UN sanctions Iran; Russia flip flops

I think Obi wan just didn't realize the applicability of his statement about Mos Eisley spaceport when he said, "You'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy". I wonder if George Lucas was thinking of the U .N. when he wrote that little quip because that is exactly what I think of whenever I read something about the U.N. The U.N. is showing some signs of sacking up and telling Iran to cut the crap when it imposed a third set of sanctions on Iran's nuclear program. Everyone's gut feeling was that Iran was enriching the uranium from their power plants to weapons grade stuff. There were some sources that verified what we all knew was going on and the U.N. is "Mad as hell and we aren't going to take it anymore- by gum, we'll slap 15 more sanctions on Iran and they will be just as effective as the 13 we slapped on Iraq!" /wrist But at least it is something and there is enough concern growing that Iran would actually nuke Israel if ...

Chinese sub thumbs its nose at the Shitty Kitty

After playing cat-and-mouse with Russian submarines during the Cold War, it appears that the U.S. will now start playing with China, but in coordinated exercises. How ironic, since a Chinese submarine surfaced near the USS Kitty Hawk last month. Of course it took this long for the Commander of the Pacific Fleet, Admiral William Fallon, to confirm it (Navy Times, 11/27/06, p.26). This is a significant event in the world of Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW) for a few reasons. First, a submarine surfaced near an aircraft carrier undetected. The carrier is the life blood of the battle group. It must be protected because it has no real defenses of its own to combat an enemy submarine. It does have aircraft that can find them but they are not on the hunt 24/7, only when a suspected threat is imminent. It is up to the ASW capable vessels in the battle group to find enemy submarines and what better tool to use than another submarine. Although the article does not identify what kind of submarine sur...
