How to save on GAS

Even though the new Sexiest Woman of the Year came out today, I thought I would post something a little more tangible like these awesome tips forwarded to me by several relatives. As our gas climbs to almost the cost of a Starbucks Grande Cinnamon Dolce Latte, every little bit of gas savvy helps. TIPS ON PUMPING GAS I don't know what you guys are paying for gasoline.... but here in California we are also paying higher, up to $4.00 per gallon. But my line of work is in petroleum for about 31 years now, so here are some tricks to get more of your money's worth for every gallon. Here at the Kinder Morgan Pipeline where I work in San Jose , CA we deliver about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period thru the pipeline. One day is diesel the next day is jet fuel, and gasoline, regular and premium grades. We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of 16,800,000 gallons. Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remembe...

Obama '08 my ass...

Image
Just wanted to show you the deal breaker for Obama getting my vote. Well, one of many really but let's not split hairs. The photo below has Senator Barack Obama, Governor Bill Richardson, Senator Hillary Clinton and Ruth Harkin stand during the national anthem. Barack Hussein Obama not only refused to say the pledge of allegiance but also did not put his hand over his heart during the pledge. At least Billary had the couth to not exclude voters and put her hand over her cold, empty heart. If Obama can't even say the pledge of allegiance, how the hell can this tool be Commander in Chief? For those of you who can't remember the pledge here it is written out the way it is supposed to be said, not with the breaks in it so kindergarteners can remember it.: I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the country for which it stands: One nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. So who does Obama pledge his allegiance to? Here is a...

Iraq 5 year mark

The five year mark approaches for the start of the most important war of our time. Nary a word is spoken, however, by our Presidential hopefuls. The Democrats have resorted to their old tricks and all the Republicans have to do is sit back and enjoy the show and Clinton and Obama duke it out. I think that 5 years is a long time to be tied up in a place where feelings of our presence (by the locals) are so misplaced. Then again, a lot of people who don't want us there probably are reallyh locals anyway. I'm sure there are thousands of people form Iran, Syria, and other asshole countries, who are there solely to make our lives a living hell as we try to get some semblance of sanity in the region. On one hand, people there deserve a life without being blown to bits by a group (any group) of people Allah bent on spreading their defunct religion to all corners of the earth. Juxtaposed is the fact that we have been there a long time, it is getting harder to control the fanatical assh...

UN sanctions Iran; Russia flip flops

I think Obi wan just didn't realize the applicability of his statement about Mos Eisley spaceport when he said, "You'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy". I wonder if George Lucas was thinking of the U .N. when he wrote that little quip because that is exactly what I think of whenever I read something about the U.N. The U.N. is showing some signs of sacking up and telling Iran to cut the crap when it imposed a third set of sanctions on Iran's nuclear program. Everyone's gut feeling was that Iran was enriching the uranium from their power plants to weapons grade stuff. There were some sources that verified what we all knew was going on and the U.N. is "Mad as hell and we aren't going to take it anymore- by gum, we'll slap 15 more sanctions on Iran and they will be just as effective as the 13 we slapped on Iraq!" /wrist But at least it is something and there is enough concern growing that Iran would actually nuke Israel if ...

Castro retires, Hollywood weeps

I say good riddance you limy bastard. For the life of me I will never understand why Hollywood sucks up to the most despicable human (ocean) detritus the world has to offer. I guess money can't fill certain voids and they look to the obscene to make themselves feel better. I have blatantly stolen an excerpt from another website because I feel it so aptly summarizes my feelings on the subject; there are some things that I will toss in for clarification or for effect, but they will be sparse. Now, Humberto, who was born in Cuba and lived there until he was six, has written another book, Fidel, Hollywood's Favorite Tyrant, about the horrors of Cuba under the evil Fidel Castro. There are some choice bits from his book: Castro tried to get Nikita Khrushchev to nuke several southern cities in the US in the early 1960's, including New Orleans and probably Baton Rouge . He incarcerates more people as a percentage of population than Hitler or Stalin did. He murdered 17,000 Cubans a...

The enemy of my enemy...

It is a slippery slope that leads to the political stump. I read that Obama and Billary are now going to team up against McCain. I think that is the only time the Clinton's will join forces with opposition- "The enemy of my enemy is my friend", comes to mind. I am starting to pay more attention the political arena now that the zero hour is upon us. Well, not really, but as fast as the time has been going since I retired (6 months ago already!) I am not going to chance it. For amusement purposes only, I went to a site that has you enter your political beliefs and then it spits out your candidate of choice lickety-split. I think they are put out by the Dems because there is no latitude for "Yes, but...". My wife actually brought this up when all her selections ended up with John Edwards. SHe is bummed because now she has to choose someone else. I kind of like Mit Romney, despite that fact the media put the spotlight on his Mormon beliefs. Too bad the media doesn...

Day off

I can count the number of days off I have had in the last 3 months on one hand so I was very excited to hear yesterday that the workload was going to be light enough for me to skip coming in. It worked out for the best since my youngest son went in th is morning to have his tonsils and adenoids taken out. I have wanted them out for a while but he was too young and Tripler AMH just wouldn't do anything. I was actually pissed about it until the doctor who performed my son's surgery told us the same thing. No doctor wants to operate on a 2-year old unless absolutely necessary. He pulled through like a champ and only cried once while we were at the hospital when they injected pain medication into his IV too quickly and he felt the burning. As we drove off i heard the tell tale sounds of a Gameboy in the backseat so I guess a full recovery is imminent. The cupboard is full of Jello, pudding, soups, and goodies. It was a necessary surgery to be performed and we are hoping he will hav...

The civilian workplace

The primary came and went here and both Billary and McCain took their party's side when the people spoke. I am still waiting on my absentee ballot from HI but I guess I should just register here. If there is a loving and caring God, I just have to believe that he will not allow another term with a Clinton in the White House. Although it might not be so bad if Billary won because then they could return the stuff they stole back in 2000. ON the bright side, Obama does give me a reason to vote Democrat this time around. I like that guy, even though his only black mark (no pun intended) is his short time in politics when compared to his constituents. But that is a plus in my book. I just think if he does win and then pulls a Bill, his credibility will be shot. It appears he is very popular with the younger voters and they might not put up with their candidate selling out. Alhtough the primary was yesterday, only one person that I work with voted. The others didn't bother or were to...

Backward Song

This guy really did a great job with this song. Halfway through he plays the video backwards so you can hear what song he sang. See if you can figure it out.

Tis the Season

Well, the glitter of commercialism has all but left us this year, and as I stand around looking at the recycle bin overflowing with cardboard and paper, I am glad that I won't have to hear non-stop Christmas songs anymore where I work. I could put up with it a little better I suppose if they didn't start playing the day after Thanksgiving. I work 2 retail jobs (at the moment) so I get it all day everyday. But at least I was home for the holidays instead of punching holes in the ocean or standing topside on a submarine freezing my ass off. No amount of holiday commercialism or family drama can ever compare to the last 20 years of missing the special events in family life. I want to wish all of you a Happy New Year and to thank all of you for dropping by all these years. I am sorry I don't have the time to visit all of your sites anymore to post but I do occasionally drop by for a read. And for the love of God, I am so happy I don't have to read "Mele Kalikimaka...

Another one bites the dust

You know the old saying, "So many assholes, so little time"? If you just wait long enough they eventually get theirs. It took a while but Saddam finally got what he deserved. Rosie was snuffed out. The list is long but distinguished and my fingers would get numb listing all the assholes who get the message from the people on the streets that they are fed up. Hugo Chavez lost the votes needed to (basically) change the Venezuelan constitution, and because of some much needed political reform, will not be able to run in 2012. He tried to play it off, like most losers do (despite the rioting and horn honking in the streets) , and I'm surprised he didn't pull a Kerry and drag out the recount process. It was a slim victory - 51 to 49%. But still, a victory is a victory and the people of Venezuela deserve better than an OPEC shyster trying to gain unlimited power. The Venezuelans dodged a bullet today, a bullet that needs to go north a bit to Cuba. The only thing left for ...
