A week before Halloween? It's time to put up the Christmas tree!

I met my wife and today at the NEX food court, a first we have accomplished since we have known each other. I enjoy going to eat there because there is a mural which covers the entire walls and ceiling of the place that Wyland painted in 2003. It is relaxing and I just can't help but to get taken away by the all the sea life, like I am swimming among them.

This vision was quickly disturbed as we walked into the food court by the 25 foot metal frame of the lighted Christmas tree that will be going up. For fuck sake, people, October isn't even over with. Every year the date for the Christmas decorations gets pushed ahead more and more. There are retards in our neighborhood that haven't taken their lights down from last year- probably from that lazine-- err, Aloha spirit, but for crying out loud enough already.

Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas (yes, I still call it Christmas, not 'festivities', or 'holidays' or some other politically correct term. If you don't like it, pick another date to celebrate your shit. We had it first.) but I hate all the commercialism that goes with it. I could interject here with a comment about the local Filipinos but I will forego it.

I'll just do all my shopping online and leave the shopping experience to the people that really dig it.

  1. It's funny that you're not supposed to call Christmas...Christmas anymore.
We might offend someone by assuming that the days we celebrate in "generic" western culture are celebrated by the so-called ethnically-diverse.
Never have I been surrounded by so much ridiculous shit-talk as these days. I am not a paranoid right winged freako, but I can definitely see the anti-western sentiment in our own country. I agree, we must recognize all religions and creeds, but at the same time, we should not have to forfeit our own. I am white...I grew up celebrating parents are Christians...That is MY FUCKING culture people. I support gay marriages, immigration, and one's freedom to express him/herself, yet I must constantly hear that because of the color of my skin I am a non-progressive, imperialistic breeder who wants force some mechanical western agenda on the entire world. Can't we all just do our thing and let the other guy do his thing? That's what it all really boils down to...just respect...regardless of ethnicity, socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual preference, or what size jeans you wear. For the love of all that is good, people...get over yourself!!!
Another irony in this pitfall of feces is that while so many people seem to have a problem with Christmas and its various meanings, big corporations have no problem exploiting the Knave said...starting before Halloween. Christmas is a billion dollar industry, and companies like Wal-Mart and Sears are going to be depending on all of us to dishing out the big bucks on gifts for a holiday we can't even say. Oh peace on earth and good will towards the buck. That's all that really matters anymore.

  2. I can identify Saucy. If I offend someone then I'm the asshole.

To all you oversensitive people: I'm offended that you're offended.
